Glass Etching Paste for Screen Printing

Stencil Characteristics

To obtain good results, it is necessary to use a stencil which is resistant to water and that deposits a thick layer of MATT GLASS. Use a mesh of monofilament of nylon or polyester, with 42 to 55 threads/cm (107 to 140 threads/inch). We recommend to use the Decafilm PA, WR or ACQ water resistant emulsions. Prepare the stencil according to the correct process.

Printing

Work in a well ventilated area. Stir the MATT GLASS Paste very well prior to use. In cold days, warm up the paste in water up to 25ºC/ 77ºF, with the pot well closed, then stir the MATT GLASS paste well.

The glass to be etched must be clean and dry, free of dust and grease. Wash it with detergent and water. If necessary, wipe the glass with vinegar.

Avoid using old glass or glass installed over 1 year.

To print, use a poliurethane squegee blade of 70 Shore A Hardness.

To reduce the viscosity of the paste (to make it more liquid), maintaining the same opacity level, add the MATT GLASS REDUCER.

Large quantities of reducer (more than 10%) can impair the definition of the printed image. Before printing each piece, cover the stencil with a layer of MATT GLASS.

PS: The MATT GLASS paste can be applied using a self-adhesive mask. Make sure that the layer is as uniform as possible.

Wash out

After printing, leave the paste for 2 to 3 minutes and then wash it with running water. If necessary, clean it with a sponge. Do not leave residues of the paste on the glass.

Use your creativity

With the screen printable MATT GLASS Paste, it is possible to achieve different levels of etching to create three dimensional effects. To obtain these effects, change the mesh of the stencil. Meshes with a higher number of threads/cm (example 54-70 instead of 42-80) deposit less paste during printing, causing less opacity.

Use your creativity. After some tests, you will obtain incredible results.

Warnings

Do not use metal or glass to mix the paste. The paste MATT GLASS contains acids. Work in a well ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin. Use protective gloves and goggles while handling the product. In case of contact with eyes, wash it immediately with running water and seek medical assistance. In case of working with the paste for long periods, use a protective mask against acid vapors. Keep out of children´s reach.
